Blue Vision

Twirling Team

Miss U.K.F.M and Miss Deputy U.K.F.M are probably the most sort after Titles to win within the U.K.F.M, with well over 50-60 girls entering each year.

Each girl has to go in for an interview with The president-Eileen Cheshire’s daughter Jane and Ray from JJ Twirlers, each girl has to answer a series of questions and they are judged (amongst other things) on their personality, their willingness to commit to the federation and their ability to shine as a role model.

The 2 lucky girls’ duties include representing the federation by attending every competition to help out with marshalling, selling raffle tickets, handing out the trophies and generally being a good role model to the children. They would also need to be present at the New years Day parade in London to lead the girls along with the U.K.F.M Colour Guard, along with any other special events/parades.

At our very first nationals as Blue Vision Twirling Team Sarah Webb decided to put herself in for Miss U.K.F.M. After what she thought was a terrible interview, she was certain that she wasn't going to get it!!!

Then on presentation night when they called out Sarah’s name as Miss U.K.F.M we all went wild, it was such a great feeling for all of us i don't think there was any ones eyes it didn't bring a tear to from our troupe!!

Then we went on to have a great year after that going round to all the competitions getting to know all the different troupes and judges

Above is a picture of Sarah just after she was crowned Miss U.K.F.M 04/05.

Colour Guard consists of 6 girls or boys from different troupes that are chosen on their marching ability, to carry either the Union Jack, the U.K.F.M banner or a rifle. The colour guard are there to 'protect' Miss U.K.F.M/Deputy and to represent the U.K.F.M by leading the parade of colours at nationals and at the New Years Day parade and at any other special events/parades.

To be selected for Colour Guard you have to go through 3 rounds:

Round 1 - Usually at the second Regional Compeition, contestants have to do a military style march. Then the best will be selected to go through to round 2 at nationals.

Round 2 - At nationals again all the contestants have to do an extended military style march and the judges have to choose the 10 best marchers to go through to the final round.

Round 3 - Contestants are inroduce to the rifles and go through a rifle drill. Then one by one each person has to do the rifle drill in front of the judges and do a military style march with the rifle (this is harder than it sounds!!!)

In 2005 Sarah Webb and Kim Jones were both chosen to be Part of the U.K.F.M Colour Guard, which was a huge achievment as it is very rare that 2 from 1 troupe are chosen!! There were also 2 girls From Capricorn chosen that same year as well!!!!

To follow on from Kim and Sarah, Sam Bathurst was also chosen for Colour Guard for the year (06/07).

Above is a picture of Kim & Sarah as U.K.F.M Colour Guard at nationals.

Here is a video of Yuko & Noriko Yoshida, the senior pairs Gold medalists at worlds 2006, enjoy!!!
